This isn’t my standard type of review, but to be true to my helpful, hippy mom nature I want to talk about the Holistic Moms Network. This nationwide organization is a mom’s group for the rest of us.Instead of being the only cloth diapering mom in the playgroup you can find friends with the same values. Chances are you won’t be the only baby wearer, or attached parent, which is quite the opposite then what you find at most groups. I personally am a Mom’s Club reject. But I am thrilled to have found HMN, so that I don’t have to feel like a reject in life. It proves that we are not alone, and we are not the only one making these choices for our kids. Check them out to see if there is a chapter near you.

I’m not usually a Pouch fan. The un-adjustable natures takes me aback . I tried one major brand, and the thick, un-breathing, poor fitted material made me want to abolish Pouch Slings, but along came Comfy Joey. The size I got was to big, a downside of pouches, (make sure you measure correctly!) but it fits well over top of my coat for walks in the cold, and it fits my husband. I tried it for awhile in a regular shirt, just holding onto Blu for extra security and can tell how nice and breathable it is. Unlike any other slings I’ve tried my husband says he could imagine wearing this one. Which is a HUGE compliment to the company. He would rather carry our 26 pound 9 month old for 3 hours then wear a sling, until now.
The material is SO nice, elegant and smooth. It’s not silk, but it feels almost like it. It is so smooth and nice. The reversible pouch still feels thinner then most pouches I’ve tried, and the layers don’t slip apart like some reversible things do. The two colors of the Reversible Pouch go beautifully together. I can’t imagine wearing an outfit of one shade and the other shade not going perfectly.
I had several friends try to sling to get input, and everyone said “I LOVE it! It’s better then the others I’ve tried. Can I have it when you’re done the review?” And commented on how light it is, how breathable, how absolutely amazing. And my favorite comment “I wasted $X on that other stupid thing and I hate it! I wish I bought this!”
The Comfy Joey Pouch Slings come in 10 different sizes!!! Much better then a common Name Brands 5! You’re guaranteed to find a style you like in a size that really fits! They have a very good sizing chart,. Just use it , and unlike me you’ll get one that fits. The Reversible Pouch like I tried is $42.50, which is lower then the competitor that I’ve said how much I disliked, and you can find clearance pouches for less on occasion. If you want to step it up a notch, try the Hunur Pouches, made from Indian Silk and Hand-loomed fabrics for $65-95
I also tried the Toy/Doll Sling, and let me say I don’t think anything is cuter then a 9 month old wearing a stuffed Cookie Monster. He would crawl some, then sit up and hug the monster, then crawl, then hug. He was visibly glad to have both hands free to crawl, and still have monster with him. It was also much safer then way, then him dragging a toy with one hand. I can’t wait to try it with a friends 5 year old. For $12.50 it’s a great way for little ones to be like Mommy, and baby wear their little ones instead of using a plastic toy stroller. Get them off to the right start!
